How to increase domain authority in 2022

Increasing your Domain Authority can lead to improved Google results and increased organic traffic to your website.

How to increase the Domain Ranking of your website?

This is a typical question that website owners ask all the time.

Sometimes website owners become obsessed with improving their Domain Authority.

But, does it actually make a difference in terms of total SEO success?

Let’s see!

What is Domain Authority ( Domain Rating )?

Domain Authority (also known as Domain Rating) is a score that measures how authoritative a website is. This is done by analyzing the site’s backlink profile and giving it a score out of 100. Backlinks are seen to be a great predictor of a site’s authority since, in principle, websites only link to other sites if the content is worth linking to. Backlinks are the main ranking factor when Google decides where your site ranks.

How to check Domain Authority?

There are several link authority tools out there like Ahrefs, Moz, Ubersuggest, Semrush, etc.

But, since we at Backlinker use Ahrefs (we are huge fans of Ahrefs💘) I’ll explain how can you check the domain authority (known as Domain Rating(DR) by Ahrefs).  But there are also chrome extensions by Ahrefs and Moz that you can do a quick check.

Just head to Site Explorer on the Ahrefs website, then type in the URL of the website you wish to explore. There is no limit to how many searches you may do. I’ll take Sales.rocks as an example:

Why is it important to increase your Domain Authority?

Domain authority is an important metric for SEO because it can be used to help predict how well a website will rank on Google.

People usually use Domain Authority to analyze the success of their SEO and link-building efforts.

How to increase Domain authority in 2022?

To increase Domain Authority it takes time and effort. There are many different ways to increase your site’s domain authority and get it ranked better in google search engines.

Set Link Building as a priority

The first thing you should focus on is link building because it is a significant quality indicator that Google considers. The best place to start is with a backlink audit, which will reveal your current backlink profile.

Furthermore, if you specialize in something unique or offer a new alternative to a product or service, it could be an excellent place to start. Make an effort to provide more detailed information about your specialty than your competitors.

Guest writing for web pages could be an excellent way to increase the number of backlinks to your website. Providing third-party sites with guest posts is another efficient internet marketing strategy. For starters, you may be able to include links to your own website within the superior content you create. ( Look for opportunities to create internal links to your helpful content. For an effective link building strategy, you must create helpful content that people want to link to (inbound links). You should create insightful content.  )

It’s time to reach out to others in your niche after you’ve created great, linkable, long-form content. Inform other websites about your site and its helpful content.

Choose a Good Domain Name

If you’re just getting started, pick a domain name that is linked to the content of your website. Your domain name should be something that is quite easy to remember so that people do not have problems returning to your site because they have forgotten what it is.

If you already have a domain name, make sure it does not expire anytime soon by renewing it for a term of three to five years.

Remove any possibly harmful backlinks.

Private blogging networks, for example, almost always cause more harm than benefit, and spamming your link online is an easy way to get a Google penalty and a drop in your domain authority score.

Check out the backlink audit, and make sure you read everything well. With Ahrefs, you can view all of your harmful links, as well as the specific backlinks that are causing them. They’ll also show you how many referring websites are sending you backlinks, which is great information to know.

Also, there is the Disavow Option ( Disavow is a system that helps you notify Google to ignore some backlinks. Disavow tool was created by Google to help webmasters notify this google search engine about links that should not be taken into account.)

Make sure your website is mobile-friendly

A 92,6 % of internet users access the web via mobile devices. If your website has not yet been optimized for mobile, you are already behind the trend.

Not only will it hurt your mobile search engine results, but you will also lose a major number of visitors who will just leave your site. To see whether your website is mobile-friendly, visit the Mobile-Friendly Test by Google Developers page. It will analyze your website to see how mobile-friendly it is.

Website Speed

When your website takes a long time to load, it may have a negative impact on your bounce rate. You may also use Google Developers’ PageSpeed tool to test the loading speed of your website. It will not only analyze your site’s performance, but it will also recommend some changes that you can implement to make your site faster and improve the overall user experience.

Check for crawlability issues

If Google is unable to crawl your website, it is quite likely that they are missing out on the important content you have to provide. It’s important to prevent crawlability issues since they can lead to your website not receiving all of the SEO points it deserves, even if you have all of the necessary components in place.

Maintain your website with a site audit tool to look for issues that may be causing problems, such as unclear redirection, broken links, and even duplicate content.
